The map below helps visualize crime data that Mission Station Capt. Stephen Tacchini sends out in a weekly email. This map includes incidents from April 5 to April 12.
In a recent meeting with Mission Loc@l, Capt. Tacchini said these statistics represent only a fraction of crime in the the Mission District. They are, however, recent enough that they are unlikely to appear on the San Francisco Police Department’s online CrimeMAPS. There is roughly a two week delay before an incident appears on the SFPD’s site, as all data is entered manually.
Follow these links for older crime maps: April 2-5, March 23-30, March 17-26 and February 19-March 17.

Thanks, Angela. Is the Captain’s e-mail list a public list? I can’t find it on sfgov.org.
Hi Chunky, Yes, the e-mail list is public. Send an e-mail to sfpdmissionstation@ci.sf.ca.us and request to receive Capt. Tacchini’s weekly e-mails. You can also read them online as pdfs, although there’s some delay before they’re posted. Here’s the link: http://www.sfgov.org/site/police_index.asp?id=96178.
CrimeReports’ data is from a different governmental department. It’s coming from the Department of Emergency Management’s Division of Emergency Communications. It’s plotting calls that come through the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. You can find the same information at EveryBlock: http://sf.everyblock.com/police-calls/locations/zipcodes/94110/.
Strange. I’ve noticed that crimereports.com has more recent updates than this (usually a day ago), and has a much better (web 2.0) interface than SFPD’s CrimeMaps. I wonder how they get better data?
