The meetings at city hall were few this week—only budget and finance met—since most of the supervisors were in Washington. D.C., fighting for stimulus funds. David Campos joined five other sups on a trip to lobby our federal delegation on behalf of the city.

The supervisors met with reps from the Obama administration, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and others during the SF Chamber of Commerce-sponsored trip to make the case for some SF-bound cash. How much could we see?

“Some $2 billion,” the Chamber’s Carol Piasente wrote in an email. The money, she said, could pay for “such projects as high-speed rail and the Transbay Transit Center, Muni, upgrades to Doyle Drive, broadband access for underserved city neighborhoods, health-care technology and green jobs.”

Campos’ office was quiet on the details of the trip, but we do know the District 9 sup met with some of Obama’s people to talk about transportation, and also with some suits from the labor department. A legislative aide to the supervisor said they’ll be sending a release with details and highlights, so we await those missives.

It’s still unclear how much if any of the fed’s cash will end up in the Mission, though our neighborhood health center sure could use it. With community programs facing cuts from all sides, a few extra million could go a long way.
