Lora Doss’s life took a turn for the worse when she swerved off Mission Street and crashed into a Wells Fargo Bank on 22nd and Mission streets last Saturday.
The South Peninsula resident was charged Wednesday with a felony for a hit-and-run incident after she tried to leave the scene of the accident. The driver was under the influence and in possession of PCP, a hallucinogenic drug, according to SFPD Sgt. Lyn Tomioka.
Doss is no stranger to the law. She was arrested for first-degree burglary of a residential home in San Mateo back in 2006, according to court records. For that incident she was sentenced to two years in Valley Sate Prison, an all-women facility in Chowchilla, Cal. Doss is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 17.
Ivan Vasquez was injured in the crash, but the extent of the injury is still unknown, according to court documents. In addition to the damage to the building, a vendor’s cart was destroyed. The owner of the cart is still unidentified. It is not known whether Vasquez was the owner of the cart.
“It may not be a big deal or a lot of money to some people,” said Officer Tomioka. “But that might have been that poor guy’s livelihood.”
Judge Donna Little arraigned Doss on Wednesday morning at the Hall of Justice. Doss’s bail has been set at $105,000.
Wells Fargo closed after the accident, but did re-open for normal business hours Monday morning, said Chris Hammond, communications manager for Wells Fargo branches in the Bay Area.
Customers were directed to the nearest Wells Fargo on 16th and Mission Street.
