I'm a copy editor and a Bay Area native who’s lived in San Francisco since 2004. I've written for local publications like the SF Weekly, San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco magazine, as well as the New Yorker, the Guardian, Wired, Mother Jones and others. My favorite tacos and alambres come from El Farolito.

I was surprised by that tree a few weeks ago, having gotten off at the wrong stop and waiting for the 22 bus. Another passenger and I realized it is flocked that strange (for Christmas) color so can’t be used as most trees are by the city. The flocking will preserve the shape for a long time—a truly SF tree!
“Mary Worth.” Any relation to “Sally… Forth”? (Asking for a friend.)
Only lavender ones.
Sensing a strong “Beach Blanket Babylon” vibe from that tree!
Ah yes, that old existential question! Seen a more-than-usual number of discarded Christmas trees this year but this one is the winner!
