A long night sleep was interrupted Wednesday morning for a 38-year-old man on Bryant Street when he awoke at 10:25 a.m. to find a stranger in his bedroom.

A 46-year-old man had broken into his home, which is between 18th and 19th Streets, and was in the act of taking a tablet from the victim’s bedroom. Awake, however, the resident jumped into action, chasing the suspect down the street while also calling police.

The suspect made it to around 18th and Harrison –  three blocks away – when the cops detained and arrested him.

The suspect was charged with burglary, possession of stolen property, and parole violation.

The tablet was dropped on the street and recovered by its owner.

Shoplifting at Knifepoint

Another tablet robbery occurred on Wednesday, but this time at a store on Harrison Street, between 14th Street and the Central Freeway at 8:55 p.m. A 25 to 30-year-old man came into the store and stole a tablet. When the manager of the store, a 27-year-old woman, tried to get the tablet back, the suspect pulled out a knife and ran off.

No arrests have been made.
