Police reported that at 1:10 a.m. a man was attacked by five male suspects near Folsom and 24th streets. The suspects punched the victim and took his wallet, money and cellphone. No injuries were reported. Three of the five suspects were taken into custody and are suspected gang members, police said.

At 7:50 p.m., police reported, a man was walking near South Van Ness and 26th streets when three young male suspects struck his cellphone from his hand. The suspects then pushed the victim, picked up his phone and fled the area on foot.

No arrests were made.

Saturday

At 2:59 a.m. near Mission and 23rd streets, two young male suspects robbed a man on the bus, according to police. The suspects approached the victim and asked him the time, which he provided after looking at his watch. One of the suspects then told the victim to look at the time on his phone. When he refused, the suspect punched him in the face and stole his phone from his pocket. The second suspect also rifled through the victim’s pockets, and the two then fled on foot.

Police located and arrested the second suspect. The victim suffered a bloody nose.

Sunday

Police reported that at 2:15 a.m., a man was walking near 15th and Mission streets when another man approached him, demanded money, punched him in the face and then robbed him. The victim lost a cellphone, money and a purse. He was treated at San Francisco General Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

No arrests were made.

  1. Phone theft is what is motivating most of these crimes. Phone companies and carriers have to find a way to brick stolen phones.
