The young man reported missing last week has been found, according to his mother. Evan Flanary, 22, was reported missing by his mother, Deborah Berlingeri.

Berlingeri posted on her Facebook wall tonight: “He was SO SO SO apologetic that he worried about us. He had met a person, they hit it off fabulously, they were down town enjoying all the week’s festivities. The battery in his cell phone died and although he had a charger, it just wouldn’t take the charge. He never noticed the flyers but today he saw his image on a television screen and could NOT believe it.”

Flanary’s mother also posted a photo of her son taken today.

Family members had told police they hadn’t heard from Flanary since June 19, when he was going to meet a stranger he had contacted on a social media phone app at approximately 5:30 p.m.

  1. He hooked up on Pride week; very much the thing to do. Hide up and have some amazing sexy time. You go Mr Evan 🙂

    1. “Family members had told police they hadn’t heard from Flanary since June 19..” Um, that’s a little more than the 3-day Pride weekend, and yes, my antenna would go up if their phone was dead and knew their circumstances.

  2. So let’s see. Some guy gets on Grindr, finds a hookup, and goes on a getaway for 3 days during PRIDE.

This is a story? Sounds like mom needs to let go.

Hey ML: this comment is un-civil, a personal attack and probably libelous.

  4. Are most 22 year old men expected to check in with their mothers nowadays? If so, things have changed.

    1. Yes, it is very normal for undergradish-aged guys to have to check in with their parents, who are likely still supporting them financially. Notwithstanding, if anyone speaks with a loved one every day, and then that person suddenly drops off the face of the earth, it would hopefully arouse suspicion. Mother, son, brother, friend, anyone. (I’d hope.)

  5. I’m happy Evan was found and hope he and his Mom can talk about ways to check in (and why you should do it)
