A 35-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries when she was stabbed in the chest with a screwdriver by a man on Monday afternoon, police said.

A 27-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the stabbing. The suspect and the victim knew each other, according to police.

Officers responded to the call at 1:30 p.m. on the 2900 block of 26th Street, between York and Hampshire, according to the police report.

The suspect and the victim were arguing when the suspect grabbed the victim and stabbed her in the chest, according to the report. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital in life-threatening condition.
