Chris Daly has been out of office for a over a year now, but his name and brand of politics are still being used to get votes.

One of the most interesting races this June is for a seat in the California Assembly’s 19th District, which includes San Francisco’s west side, Colma, Daly City and parts of South San Francisco. (More on the race here and here.)

The campaign of Michael Breyer, a public library commissioner, sent a colorful mailer to a home in the Crocker Amazon last week, depicting the kinds of political activity that Fox News likes to make fun of San Francisco for.

Here’s the kicker: the long mailer then has a photo of former District 6 Supervisor Chris Daly (he used to represent parts of the Mission) that reads, “Chris Daly and his guerrilla tactics.”

For the record, the Happy Meal ban was introduced by Supervisor Eric Mar, the Yellow Pages ban was introduced by Supervisor David Chiu and the goldfish ban was introduced by a city commission.

Daly still hangs around the city and runs the Buck Tavern on Market Street, last time I checked. I wonder if his name will still be used to stir up political controversy years from now.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that Daly has been out of office for a couple of years; it has been just over a year.
