The truck plowed into the other parked car carrying it up on the sidewalk.

The driver of a white truck lost control on 19th Street between Valencia and Guerrero at around 6 p.m. on Thursday, sideswiping a car parked on the north side of the street and then plowing into another car, according to witnesses’ accounts.

The truck plowed into the other parked car carrying it up on the sidewalk.

The driver jumped out of the car and ran south to 18th Street. Pete Koff, who was riding home on his bike, heard the crash and pursued the driver, who tried to board a bus on 18th Street.

Koff stopped the bus driver, and two undercover policemen arrived to arrest the suspect.

At 7:30 p.m., 19th Street remained blocked off between Valencia and Guerrero as tow trucks worked to clear away the wreckage.

There were no injuries. Koff said the man appeared to be drunk, but this could not be confirmed. Police did confirm that someone had been arrested.

  1. Way to go, Pete. You are my hero! Chasing down that delinquent on your bike, getting the bus to stop and catching that perp takes real balls.

btw KyleM- you are a dumbass!!! can you really not wrap your head around other possibilities other than your “illegal alien” theory? Or was that an attempt at ironical humor/social commentary? rhetorical questions… please don’t respond

  2. I reiterate Girl on the Hill – Mayor Ed Lee should give Pete Koff a metal from the city or something! That’s the kind of citizens you want, not the drunk idiot wrecking cars in broad daylight on a crowded street.

  3. did the driver have a valid license ? current insurance ? a previous record of moving violations or other crime ?

trying to understand why they would be so desperate to escape.

    1. Obviously an illeagal alien. Not that I’m one to blame anything on them. God bless their cheap labor. But who else would think they could flee a scene and not get caught. It’s not his truck and whoever owns it isn’t going to cop to hiring undocumented workers.
