Police are reviewing surveillance video at the 24th and Mission Streets BART Station after a man was shot in the hip at approximately 12 p.m. outside the northeast side of the 24th Street BART plaza.

After being shot, the victim crossed the street and collapsed in front of Mission Emporium, according to Shafi Mohamed, the owner of Discount City store located at 2762 Mission Street. He was conscious before he was taken to the hospital.

Police interviewed a woman who was with the victim at the time he was shot. A man who knows the victim said that he is 19-years-old.

Authorities are searching for a suspect but no description is available. Police blocked off Mission Street from 23rd to 24th Street for approximately 30 minutes but traffic is now getting through again.

This is the latest shooting, after Monday’s deadly shooting on Camp Street, near 16th and Guerrero Street.

In an unrelated incident,  BART police, who had been reviewing surveillance footage,  helped a man coming out of BART who said he was having chest pains. The man was taken to the hospital.

  1. I agree:

“While reviewing surveillance footage, BART police helped a man coming out of BART who said he was having chest pains. The man was taken to the hospital.”

I don’t think it belongs in this story, or it could be written differently; I would write, in an unrelated incident, “while, etc.”

  2. The guy with the chest pains was leaving McDonalds, he had two big macs, a filet ‘o’ fish, 6 piece nuggets and a shake… no wonder he was clutching his chest!

  3. Sounds like there was something suspicious dropped off at salvation army. Must be the reason for the evacuation. Are you sure there was a shooting as well?

    1. There are many ways this could be relevant. Even if it’s just an incidental fact, definitely doesn’t ruin the whole article like you imply.

        1. “Two suspects are believed to have been involved in the shooting and were seen running into the BART station, according to Esparza.”

Maybe they threatened the man and he almost had a heart attack? Who knows?
