We will update this on Saturday, and by that time MAPP’s own map will probably be ready, but this is such a terrific Mission night that we wanted to give you a head start. The Mission Arts and Performance Project, known as MAPP, has been around for about eight years, but even people who have lived here forever often haven’t heard of it.
It happens every other month, on the first Saturday of the month, and anywhere from five to 20 or so homes and businesses open up their space to performers of art, poetry and music. I don’t think I’ve been to anything like it outside of the Mission. Most venues start up somewhere between 5 and 7 p.m. and go until around midnight. The full schedule of performers is always listed on the Red Poppy’s map.
The box on this page lists our previous coverage of MAPP, so you can read and see more. Especially check out the print piece, “Mapping the Mission one Garage at a Time.”
Venues are typically added and dropped right up to the last minute, so the Red Poppy Art House at Folsom and 23rd doesn’t have a complete map ready until Saturday.
This map can get you going, and you can print out a pdf of it here. If we’ve left any venues off, just let us know and we’ll add them.

why do you always put maps up in the wrong direction!
We have the problem of having to run the maps as a horizontal – 1600 px across. Best, Lydia
That is only a problem if you refuse to consider any other map but this specific one. Throw this thing out and get one that both fits and makes sense. The idea of changing the compass to satisfy a graphic designer is silly. Your readers want maps we can understand. Fix it.
So excited!
