There’s been a car accident on Octavia. Apparently, at 6:30 this morning one of those big trucks carrying a load of automobiles struck and killed a pedestrian at the intersection of Octavia and Hayes.

7:46: OK, now the story’s changing. A KTVU anchor is saying on Twitter that a UCSF passenger van hit the truck/automobile trailer, and a passenger in the van was thrown outside in the crash.

Whatever happened, we’d advise taking evasive maneuvers around the Octavia entrance/exit, since the accident isn’t on the freeway itself.

Traffic blockages also apply to Muni. If you need to travel through that area, it’s a good day to bike or walk.

Traffic cleared, obviously, but here’s the full story on SFGate. Basically, a Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck carrying four cars hit a shuttle bus carrying UCSF employees to San Francisco General Hospital this morning at 6:20 a.m. Four of the shuttle bus passengers were injured and taken to SFGH for treatment, and one, Dr. Kevin Allen Mack, a psychiatrist at the hospital, was thrown out of the bus, and pinned underneath the big rig. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
