A Christmas tree set on fire around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday burned the door of a vehicle parked on the 2900 block of Folsom near 25th, according to police.

The fire was set outside of April Macedo’s home. The vehicle involved, she said, belonged to a neighbor.

Macedo said that neighbors dump their trees by her house because they have the most light on the block. Once a tree has been dumped, someone eventually sets it on fire.

“We’ve had fires in front of our house after Christmas ever since I can remember,” Macedo said.

In other crimes, a 27-year-old man was walking on 18th Street near Alabama around 1:50 a.m. when a suspect approached him and struck him on the head with a stick, according to police.

The suspect, described as a 30-year-old male, fled on foot. The victim was transported to SF General Hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening laceration to his head.
