According to SF Green Cab, a car hit a Luxor Cab at 16th and Valencia, then fled and hit several along 18th. It all came to an end right here at around 1 a.m., when the car crashed on Lapidge Street near the Women’s Building.

So if you’re walking down that block and wondering why several sidewalk planters are completely smashed to bits — that’s the reason.

UPDATE: An intrepid reader writes in to report that the car was driving the wrong way down the one-way street before it crashed into the Women’s Building. It was immediately surrounded by a crowd of yelling bystanders, who had been standing out on the street socializing. The driver yelled back at the crowd but declined to leave the car until police arrived.
