Taqueria el Balazo, next to the Submission is “closed until further notice.”
The details are sketchy but a new logo went up. It looks like the inside still has all the restaurant equipment. The taqueria’s phone number is not working either. Phone calls to the owners of the taqueria have not yet been returned.
The Mission Street location, which employees at the other Balazo locations confirmed, has a different owner. Which would explain why they were not part of the controversial ICE raid like the other 11 El Balazo locations, on May 2, 2008.
Everytime I went to the Sub-Mission it looked like the taqueria was struggling. We’ll keep you updated.
