SUMMARY:Verdi Club: The Golden Hour Heptet at the Woodchopper's Ball
DESCRIPTION:THE GOLDEN HOUR HEPTET:\nThe Golden Hour Heptet plays swing music for both dancing and listening audiences\, inspired by the great jazz artists of the 30’s and 40’s. Led by Lauryn and Ryan Gould (Austin\, TX)\, the band is greatly influenced by the music of Don Byas\, Slam Stewart\, Johnny Hodges\, Kansas City Six/Seven\, Edmond Hall Sextet\, Sidney Bechet\, Mary Lou Williams\, and so many more. This particular group began as a quartet\, but has grown into several iterations\, all the way up to a 10-piece “little big band\,” the Golden Hour Orchestra. The Heptet typically features a three-horn “front line” and a three- or four-piece rhythm section.
