Their collaboration promises to breathe new life into the timeless melodies and intricate rhythms that defined an era of jazz. \nFeaturing: \nJimmy Grant – Guitar\nPaul Mehling – Guitar \nSunday\, June 8th\, 2024\nTime: 7:00 pm doors\, 7:30 pm show\nAdmission: (Online) $25 – $30 / (Door) $30 general\, $25 student & senior \nABOUT THE ARTISTS: \nA professional musician since the age of 11\, Paul Mehling plays the guitar\, violin\, tenor\, plectrum banjo\, string bass\, mandolin\, and vocals. He is a leader of the Hot Club of San Francisco\, producer of 6 instructional DVDs on HomespunVideos (guitar lessons)\, and named by PBS as the “father of gypsy jazz in the US.” He has 16 CD recordings under the name of Hot Club of San Francisco. Mehling also plays in a variety of settings from blues to swing to New Orleans. \nJimmy Grant performs primarily in the style of Django Reinhardt\, infusing swing-era pieces\, original work\, and traditional gypsy tunes with the jazz guitar pioneer’s crunchy rhythms and hot harmonies. Jimmy Grant was recently a finalist in the John Lennon songwriting competition for his original song “Insomnia\,” and also had an interview with Guitar World for his “5 in 5″ project\, in which he wrote five different songs in five days.
