SUMMARY:Shaping SF: Lost Golden Gate Park
DESCRIPTION:Three events created most of the map of contemporary Golden Gate Park: the Midwinter Fair of 1893\, the building projects of the WPA\, and the construction of Highway 1. Our guest guide\, Nancy Botkin\, creator of the walking tours in the new book\, Discovering Golden Gate Park: A Local’s Guide\, leads us on a walk of “Lost Golden Gate Park”. With few entry points\, this semi-secret area is arguably the least visited section of Golden Gate Park\, much of it unchanged since the Depression. We explore a 20-acre section that was cut from the rest of the park by the creation of Crossover Drive/ Park Presidio Bypass / Highway 1 to speed traffic from 19th Ave to the Golden Gate Bridge. You’re pretty much guaranteed to see things you’ve never noticed before\, including special views of the Bridge. \nDistance: 2-3 miles\, expect rugged dirt trails with uneven surfaces. \nRSVP to shaping@foundsf.org

SUMMARY:Accion Latina: De Aquí y De Allá by Nicolas Gonzalez-Medina (opening reception)
DESCRIPTION:NEW EXHIBITION by Nicolas Gonzalez-Medina opening on April 4th at Acción Latina featuring a DJ set by La Favi 🌹\nDe Aquí y De Allá\nResistance & Resilience\nBy Nicolas Gonzalez-Medina\nWood Block Students Featuring Work: JoJo\, Cristina Medrano\, Faustina Ngo\, Nayelli Rosas\nGrowing up undocumented shaped Nicolas Gonzalez-Medina’s understanding of home and belonging. Arriving at 5\, following his parents’ dreams of a better life\, art became his refuge\, a space to navigate identity and find his voice.\nNow\, his woodblock prints carve through borders and erasure\, amplifying voices and igniting conversations. Bold lines and political messages reveal the power of artivism\, rooted in his journey and the resilience of our communities.\nBorn in Guanajuato\, raised in Chicago\, and now based in Oakland\, Nicolas is an artist and activist whose work lives in the streets as much as the gallery\, uplifting voices of queer\, undocumented communities.\nDe Aquí y De Allá is an exploration of traditional wood block printing in today’s modern world. The exhibit will feature hand carved and printed wood blocks that spark conversations about identity\, culture and social justice movements. Bold lines and expressive faces printed on fabric and paper along with butterfly and portrait motifs representing their BORDERLESS life as they fly freely coloring the skies.\nThese ancient motifs are decorated with string art\, showing their complexities and beauty.\nJoin us at Acción Latina on April 4th from 2–8PM for the opening reception\, with DJ sets by DJ Muy Muy and La Favi.

SUMMARY:Dance Mission Theater: Queering Dance Festival presents FROLIC!
DESCRIPTION:Queering Dance Festival presents\nFROLIC!\nApril 2-4th\, 2026 at Dance Mission Theater \nTickets: $0-45 https://www.viewcy.com/event/frolic2026 \nThursday\, April 2\, 8pm\nFriday\, April 3\, 8pm (ASL Interpretation)\nSaturday\, April 4\, 5pm (ASL Interpretation & Audio Description – Haptic Access tour at 4pm) \nBack for another year of powerful\, sexy\, experimental queer dance\, the Queering Dance Festival’s FROLIC! presents six Bay Area LBGTQ+ artists. Transmutation\, monstrosity\, sex work as vital ritual\, tap as tribute\, and more infuse the vibrant works presented by this year’s commissioned artists. \n2026 Artists\nMicah Sallid\nWailana Simcock\nTajinder Virdee\nB Dean / BODYSTORM\nNina Haft & Company\nSaharla Vetsch // Major Hammy & Garrett Lukas Dellios // Beef Cakes \nABOUT\nMicah Sallid offers a Hoofers (tap) love letter to Oakland—its rhythm\, its people\, its power. Driven by the contagious flow of the R&B group Tower of Power’s “What Is Hip\,” it celebrates community\, diversity\, and the electric pulse that “The Town” radiates into the world. \n“Full Release\,” from choreographer Wailana Simcock\, exxxplicitly engages sex and sex work\, challenging a culture that casts pleasure as transgression. Reaching beneath moral inheritance and into pre-Christian bodies and desires\, the work insists on pleasure as a vital\, generative force. Personal testimony dissolves into fiction; drag kinships collide with Grindr confessions; ritual meets transaction atop a massage table. \nIn “Whispers of the Womb\,” Tajinder Virdee acknowledges the unprocessed grief of miscarriage in their ancestral lineage while disrupting binary understandings of transness and dysphoria. Their performance explores with curiosity what the womb space can teach us about what it means to care and nourish life. \nIn a stark\, dimly-lit dystopia where flesh deviates and identities fracture\, B Dean/BODYSTORM’s “TEETH” plunges into the shadows where trans bodies become monstrous\, not as objects of horror\, but as sites of radical imagination and necessary adaptation. \nNina Haft & Company presents “Facing Gaza\,” a duet about choice and complicity in a time of genocide. \nSaharla Vetsch // Major Hammy & Garrett Lukas Dellios // Beef Cakes: All that you touch\, you change. All that you change changes you. We are echoes of ourselves and those that invoke transmutation; past\, present\, and future. \nAccess Information\n-ASL Interpretation provided at Friday and Saturday shows.\n-Live Audio Description by Gravity Access Services on Saturday with a Haptic Access Tour one hour before showtimes.\n-Dance Mission is an ADA accessible space. The theater is on the second level with access via an elevator. Please note that except for the first row\, all other seats in the theater are only accesssible via staits. Please reserve limited mobility/wheelchair seating if you need it.\n-Scent-free: please avoid wearing scents to this performance\n-COVID Safety: Audiences are required to wear masks. SUMMARY:ATA: OC: Optronica The J Lee Mobile Unit
DESCRIPTION:Other Cinema’s early April ‘split-ticket’ of “Wavelength Works” initially focuses on the Visible Range\, while next Saturday’s attends to the larger electromagnetic spectrum. Among tonight’s repertoire we’ll be treated to an arguably ‘West Coast’ predilection for Light\, both electric.. and from paraffin! Here’s a trifecta of optical superstars\, each of whom steps up to the challenge of a live expanded cinema performance: Divya Farias and Alex Mejía bring Sleep When The Baby Sleeps\, an audiovisual act for film\, video\, saxophone\, and voice. Working in high-contrast rhythms of sound and image\, the piece explores sleep not as rest\, but as a paradoxical threshold—where exhaustion breeds agitation\, memories loop\, and the body resists its own release. Fragmented moving images\, optical pulses\, breath\, and saxophone lines spiral between tension and surrender. PLUS: The J Lee Mobile Unit is a daring arrangement of projectors\, keyboard\, candelabras\, and free-hanging mobiles\, all synchronized by the ‘Third Hand Collective‘ to enact a marvelously playful sound/shadow-play improv. Jake Scott returns from CalArts with the premiere of his triple-projector How Everything Is Connected as the finale to this program\, that also proffers pieces by Francois Miron and Craig Baldwin\, so as to provide refreshing visuals between live acts. A Tommy Becker Loopy Overture welcomes all into our Dream Machine pre-show milieu. $14

SUMMARY:18 Reasons: Spring is for Lamb Lovers
DESCRIPTION:Spring is the quintessential time of year for eating lamb. Chef Gracie spent many years working as a butcher\, giving her a unique perspective on how to treat each part of the lamb to best showcase its delicious flavors and textures.
