SUMMARY:Community Music Center: Mission Open House: Intro to Music for Kids
DESCRIPTION:Looking for the perfect way to introduce your child to music? Join us at CMC for a free Open House\, where young students can explore in a fun and welcoming environment! Each session includes an overview of CMC and our programs\, followed by short demo classes. Families will rotate through different classes\, giving each child the chance to try them all! \nThis is a great chance to try out a class before our Fall Quarter classes begin September 2! \nDemo Classes: \nAges 4–7 \nYounger students can enjoy a playful introduction to music during the 4:00–5:00 PM hour\, rotating between three 15-minute group sessions: \n    Music for Children – Engaging exploration through song and movement with Beth Wilmurt.\n    Intro to Piano – Hands-on fun with keyboards in Zahra Rothschild’s Piano Lab (for children ages 5–7). Four-year-olds are welcome to remain in Music for Children or leave a bit earlier.\n    Intro to Violin – Try out the violin with Michael Long\, learn about the strings and explore making sounds with the bow \nAges 8–12 \nFrom 5:00–6:00 PM\, older kids rotate between two 25-minute group sessions designed to introduce foundational music skills: \n    Intro to Piano – Learn hand position and simple melodies with Zahra Rothschild.\n    Intro to Guitar – Try out the basics of guitar playing with Sharon Wayne. \nDate: Wednesday\, August 27 \nLocation: Community Music Center Mission Branch (544 Capp Street) \nNo prior experience is needed—just curiosity and excitement! This Open House is a great way to find the right musical path for your child before spring enrollment begins. \nCome make music with us! \nPlease note: Space is limited. Please register in advance.
