Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon! And happy Lunar New Year. Here’s the latest:

OK, it’s final: The conflictive Valencia bikeway will be moved from the center of the street back to the curbside, after a last-ditch appeal by a small group of merchants was rejected; construction will begin early next month. Is everyone happy now?

Homeless families facing eviction from city shelters got a 30-day extension of stay, following a letter personally delivered to the mayor’s officeโ€”see our back story. But the extensions mean longer waits for shelter for the 308 families still outside.ย

We’ve got an intro interview with D2 Supervisor Stephen Sherrill, the Bloomberg protegรฉ appointed last month by Mayor Breed to fill out Catherine Stefani‘s term. “It’s been a lot of fun,” he told Junyao Yang, offering to visit D2 residents in their living rooms.

Read all our intro interviews with newly-elected officials here.

More soon,

Sara
