Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon! We have some excellent in-depth reporting today.

A tech-financed group wants to take over a square mile of central SF for a “campus” one VC backer envisions as an autonomously-governed zone that will exclude the wrong “tribes.” Gil Duran has a fascinating story about Balaji Srinivasan, the leader of a controversial movement to found new, sovereign and tech-governed territories around the world called โ€œNetwork States.โ€ย

A task force of the SF Democratic Party held a meeting to address sexual assault in politics last night, following allegations against progressive Mission politicos Jon Jacobo and Kevin Ortiz, and Jay Cheng, a moderate political powerbroker. Several speakers said they were victims of rape or sexual abuse in political settingsโ€”though some also raised questions about the task force’s motivations. What’s coming next?

In election news, See how they run follows Mark Farrell to the Portola, and shares some dim sum with the mayoral candidate. Stay on top of all our election coverage here.

More soon,

Sara
