Reporter Kevin Jones won a restraining order against Omar Ward, aka “JJ Smith,” whose provocative videos of homeless people have given him a large conservative following. After Ward posted a video of Jones and left a threatening note on his car, Jones’ tires were slashed; a judge called Ward’s note “creepy.”

A teen in a treatment program passed notes to a girlโ€”and now faces up to 12 years in prison without a trial. Abigail Vรขn Neely looks at what happens when minor mistakes upend the chance for recovery.

St. Anthony’s, which feeds 1,000 people a day and provides a range of medical and social services, has laid off 30 workers due to “tightening resources.” Its programs depend on grants and donations instead of government funding.
