Good afternoon!

Oh no—the original Philz Coffee on 24th Street is closing, after 20 years as a funky, friendly anchor for the block. Other Philz Coffee locations remain open, but stop by this neighborhood spot for a “Mission Cold Brew” soon.

It’s decided: Nima Momeni will stand trial for the April 4 murder of Bob Lee. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.

Our informal bilingual polling of Mission residents shows that only about a third know who’s running for D9 supervisor in next year’s crowded field—or even know the name of their current supervisor.

You probably do know some or all of that information, though, if you’re a regular reader of Mission Local. We’re celebrating our fifteenth year of independent, public-service journalism, and invite you to support our work to help keep the Mission informed.

More soon,

Sara
