Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

Daniel Tsai, S.F.’s public health director, told a private meeting of staff at SF General that inadequate protocols led to the fatal stabbing of social worker Alberto Rangel in December. Eleni Balakrishnan reports that Tsai also refuted the sheriff union’s claim that a deputy stopped the attack.

See the back story for the account of an eyewitness who said the deputy was not within eyeshot of the stabbing

Okay, so ICE was at SFO last night, where they forcibly handcuffed and took a woman and her 10-year-old daughter from a domestic terminal. Clara-Sophia Daly and Sage Rรญos Mace write that at least a dozen SFPD officers were also present, forming a defensive line around one of the ICE agents. See the videos, and stay tuned for updates.

Yes, things are worse with BART than you thought. Joe Eskenazi has a sobering analysis of BART’s ‘Alternative Service Plan,’ and what it could mean for the system if November’s regional sales tax measure doesn’t pass.

Mission Local’s Io Yeh Gilman will be on KQED’s Forum tomorrow at 9AM to talk about commission streamliningโ€”listen in to find out what’s really going on.

More soon,

Sara
