Good afternoon!
Last month, the city installed barriers and surveillance cameras on Shotwell Street, in response to a few neighbors’ outrage over alleged sex work. Now the SFPD has invited residents to take photos of cars whose owners they suspect are soliciting sex. The SFPD says it will trace the plates and send “Dear John” letters to the cars’ ownersโapologizing in advance if the amateur snoops’ tips were mistaken.
The race for school board seems to finally be over, with incumbent Board president Matt Alexander re-elected. The seven-member board will have four first-timers taking seats in January.
And the trial for the murder of tech exec Bob Lee continues: On the witness stand yesterday, accused killer Nima Momemi contradicted his earlier testimony about his relationship with Lee. Eleni Balakrishnan, who’s been covering the trial since it began, has an interesting piece today about the “soap opera” scene outside the courtroom, where family members of both Momeni and Lee share reactions with reporters.
More soon,
