Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

Hmm, how did the city’s Prop A bond money for “sustainability” wind up funding hammocks and a skate park at Sunset Dunes? Joe Eskenazi reports on the way money’s been used for parks under departing director Phil Ginsburg.

Over the weekend, Io Yeh Gilman did a Day 200 recap of the progress and continuing challenges of the 16th Street plaza crackdown.

And today, the SFPD moved its mobile command unit permanently off the plaza, due to “budgetary constraints.” Read the different explanations offered for the changeโ€”and for what’s coming next.

And take a look at Vincent Pflieger‘s beautiful photos of the “concrete testimonies“written on our sidewalks.

More soon,

P.S. The Roxie has 20 free tickets for Mission Local readers to “No Place To Grow Old,” a film about older adults facing homelessness. Screening and panel discussion tomorrow, at 6PM: Come early to the box office and claim your ticket.
