The proposed Marina Safeway housing development—with its 25 stories, nearly 800 units, and cruise-ship aesthetic—once seemed “inconceivable,” writes Joe Eskenazi. Yet despite opposition from Mayor Daniel Lurie, and a Safeway boycott by enraged Marina residents, read why the giant project is likely to happen fast.
