Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

Following a lawsuit by anti-tax activists, a long-planned regional affordable housing bond measure was pulled from the ballot this morning. The $20 billion measure would have gone before voters in all nine Bay Area counties, to provide money for building and preserving affordable homes.

D7 supervisorial candidate Matt Boschetto has set up a ballot measure committee to oppose Prop K, which would close the Great Highway to cars and create a park. Ballot measure committees can sidestep campaign limits by raising unlimited donations; Boschetto’s raised $75,000 in one week, mostly from his family members.

We asked the D5 candidates to name three things they’ve done to help the district and its residents. Only one said, “The biggest thing Iโ€™ve done in service of District 5 isย leaving my career in the private sectorย to run for supervisor.”

Another nice story by Io Yeh Gilman, on the complicated work of an animal control officer. Unsurprisingly, it’s actually about managing the people.

More soon,

Sara
