Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon! Here’s the latest:

The Alice Griffith public housing complex was redeveloped in 2017, but it’s already falling apart after the SF Housing Authority gave oversight to the John Stewart management company. Behind the modern facade, residents live with rats, leaks, mold, collapsed ceilings, shootings, and broken elevators. Read about the threats made to Mission Local’s Marina Newman as tenants showed her the flooded garage.

Over 20 people were arrested this morning as UCSF social workers picketed outside a UC Board of Regents meeting, protesting a staffing crisis they say leaves them unable to care for the city’s most vulnerable mental health patients.

Plan your weekend with Lydia Chรกvez, who’s got listings and reviews of what’s on in May at city museums and galleries, with tips on opening receptions, events, and special showings.

More soon,

Sara
