Good afternoon! There’s a lot going on:
A federal judge in San Francisco has questioned the legality of Trump’s troop deployment in Los Angeles. Stay updated as he issues his decision.
Supervisor Bilal Mahmood made a midnight trip to the airport after U.S. Customs detained two Palestinians invited by an East Bay synagogue, revoked their valid visas, and said it would deport them.
This morning, 100 people, including a rabbi and interfaith leaders, rallied at the airport to support the two Palestinians.
And two more immigrants were arrested at the ICE field office.
Acting Police Chief Paul Yep said he was not aware of any weapons or pepper spray used by the SFPD at recent ICE protests. But our reporters witnessed and videoed officers firing “less-lethal” munitions at protesters.
Marcus Gabbert reports on the research on homeless sweeps, and talks with people about their experiences over the last year. See his photo essay.
See last night’s report from 16th Street; we’ll post today’s later this evening.
More soon,
Sara
