Good morning! Here’s the latest:
A new report by the Budget and Legislative Analyst says 30 percent of nonprofits with city contracts didn’t adhere to standards for financial practices. These nonprofits provide much of SF’s mental health and substance abuse care. Meanwhile, the report notes that 35% of the city-funded positions created in the last fiscal yearโmostly for staff in the Department of Public Healthโremain vacant.
Nonetheless, Mayor Lurie says the city can rapidly add capacity for drug treatment and mental health. He announced plans to speed up contracting with nonprofits, and suggested that SF General Hospital open new bedsโthough hospital workers pointed out beds can’t be added without staffing.
We’ve got an interview with incoming D3 Supervisor Danny Sauter: See what he’s got to say about rezoning, office conversions, and adding 1,500 trash cans. And take a look at the rest of our intro interviews.
More soon,
Sara
