Good afternoon! Here’s the latest:
More than 15 people, including several children and a toddler, were arrested yesterday as they attended their check-in at the ICE office downtown. One family was transferred to a detention center in Texas; it’s not clear where the others are being held. Check back in for updates.
After several female lawyers of color complained about Judge Braden Woods in 2021, he was quietly transferred to another court. Now he’s back in the Civic Center Courthouse, where he’ll rule on a challenge by one of the lawyers who says Woods shouldn’t oversee her case.
Since Bernal Heights journalist David Talbot had a stroke, his sons Joe (director of The Last Black Man in San Francisco) and Nat (a cook) have been caring for him. To raise money, Nat’s opened a twice-weekly pizza pop-up in Charlie’s Cafรฉ, across from Precita Park.
More soon,
Sara
