Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon! Here’s the latest:

Last night’s two meetings on drug use near 16th and Mission turned into a chaotic yelling match between political factions. Pro-abstinence advocates and current members of the Democratic County Central Committee shouted down members of the SF Latinx Club inside Manny’s, drowning out residents. See Margaret Kadifa‘s report on the conflicts.

Okay, the newest iteration of the Valencia bike lane is finally open, after a failed center-lane version and approximately six thousand arguments. Read the fine print about the current state of left turns.

Many, many YIMBYs gathered in the Mission for an “Abundance Happy Hour to celebrate their growing influence in SF politics. A live podcast featured calls for upzoning and building more housing across the city.

The former worker who’s suing the SFMTA told the jury that he โ€œfeared for his safetyโ€ and would hide out in the parking lotย  for nearly seven hours of his shift to avoid his boss.

And gas station chicken has arrived at 24th and Mission. Maria C. Ascarrunz is there.

More soon,

Sara
