Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

Looks like the Mission is quite popular with mayoral candidates this week. Ahsha Safaí, whose headquarters is at Mission and 22nd, was out climbing stairs to talk with residents. Mayor London Breed toured businesses on 24th Street, praised the food, and posed for selfies with passers-by.

We also talked with two high-school students (one the son of street vendors) who see themselves as”future supervisors and mayors.” The Mission teens, on scholarship to a private school in the Presidio, say that experiencing the “sheer discrepancies” between neighborhoods spurred them to propose forming a D9 Youth Council.

And finally, we asked D9 candidates for supervisor who they favor for district attorney. Only one said, “Letting criminals run amok is no longer acceptable.”

More soon,

Sara
