Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

What’s up with Mayor Breed’s ‘Good Government Reform‘ directive? Joe Eskenazi, in a blistering analysis, says the mayor’s reiteration of existing rules does nothing to stop the corruption among nonprofits that’s flourished during her tenure. But it may be the mayor’s attempt to deflect blame from scandals brewing over alleged funny business with “Dreamkeeper Initiative” nonprofits.

And speaking of scandals, apparently a woman was found selling hot dogs without a permit yesterday. We’ve got video of SFPD officers tackling and handcuffing the vendor, while her young daughter cries hysterically. โ€œItโ€™s โ€˜cause she fought with the officers,โ€ย a city employee alleged, rolling the hot dog cart away.

If you have any doubts about the politicization of school boards, consider who’s funding the races. Our story finds that donations from outside San Francisco make up 42% of the contributions to candidates for school board so far, with 15% coming from outside California.
