Good afternoon!

We’re stepping up coverage of the June elections, and today Io Yeh Gilman reports on a debate that got testy, with Saikat Chakrabarti, Connie Chan, and Scott Weiner, who are running for Nancy Pelosi’s congressional seat.

Yujie Zhou has a two-part look at Chakrabarti‘s ground game. Chakrabarkti, a tech centimillionaire, is paying a battalion of door-knockers up to $45 an hour. Yujie goes out on the trail with Chinese-speaking canvassers and the field organizers to see how they operate.

Paul Henderson, head of the Department of Police Accountability, is facing an unusual evaluation by the police commission, after allegations of a hostile workplace and a lawsuit against him by a fired employee. Eleni Balakrishnan reports on conflicts at the troubled watchdog agency.

For back story, see Eleni’s story from last August on employees’ complaints about Henderson’s leadership.

More soon,

Sara
