Safe Street Rebel, a San Francisco “anti-car dominance” group, illicitly drilled holes and installed five “Yield to Peds and Bikes” signs on the Wiggle, a popular east-west bike route. So far, the city hasn’t removed the official-looking signs—and cars actually seem to be slowing down.
When the Supreme Court rules on a landmark case about the constitutionality of homeless encampment sweeps, what will change in San Francisco? Mission Local talks with city officials and advocates for the homeless.
We’re following Mayor London Breed on the campaign trail this week. Yesterday she spoke at a drug recovery summit convened by advocates of abstinence who feel a harm-reduction approach is too permissive. Breed abandoned her plan for safe-consumption sites, and now says more law enforcement is needed.
We asked all the D3 candidates who they support for mayor. Only one said, “With abundant rhetoric, true capability is often elusive. Demand excellence!”
