The Ethics Commission has only completed 3 of 16 mandatory audits of the candidates who received public funds back in 2020, and hasn’t even begun many of them. Its failure to check if candidates followed the campaign laws leaves the city unprepared, writes Joe Eskenazi, for the “tsunami of dark money” about to crash on us this year.

Asian-American rappers say they’re often not taken seriously. Yujie Zhou talks with rappers in the Bay Area about stereotypes, solidarity, and regional pride.
