Good morning! Just a couple quick things:

There’s winning the election—and then there’s governing. D7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar was re-elected after a contentious campaign. Now she has to manage constituents’ competing interests, and the district’s reluctance to change. Kelly Waldron looks at the challenges Melgar faces over the hot-button issues of upzoning, housing, and driving.

Police arrested a woman for allegedly vandalizing murals across the city, after she was filmed defacing a mural on Mission Street, and seen painting over the Central Drug mural in the Excelsior. Central Drug’s owner told Mission Local the story of the 2009 mural—and showed us the original sketch.

Exciting to see this morning that Mission Local’s fundraising just passed its original goal of $250,000— thank you to our early and loyal supporters! Now, with new matching funds, we’re aiming to reach $310,000 by the end of the year: Please donate!

More soon,

Sara
