Good afternoon!

We’ve got an update in the only remaining case against an on-duty SFPD officer for a police shooting. After months of delays, a judge has scheduled a preliminary hearing in the homicide case against officer Kenneth Cha, who shot Sean Moore on his own front steps in 2017.

Black parents met with the SFUSD superintendent and Board members to demand more resources from the district. Black students are disproprortionately suspended and placed in special ed, and parents say many schools aren’t helping prepare their kids for high school and college.

A victim of domestic violence is facing eviction: After a restraining order forced her abuser out of their apartment, her rent was legally increased by 77%. “The way the law is written, there is no protection for survivors of domestic violence,” said her lawyer.

More soon,
