Good afternoon!
You may have noticed that, following our in-depth election coverage, Mission Local is looking more closely than ever at the city’s governance. Today Xueer Lu writes about D11’s new supervisor, Chyanne Chen, and the challenges facing her “forgotten” district as a $867 million budget deficit looms.
There was a rare moment of unity at City Hall today as the mayor, all the supes, the district attorney, public defender, city attorney and police chief joined to defend SF’s sanctuary status. Officials spoke at a rally called by SEIU Local 87, which represents janitorial workers, after ICE agents appeared last week in downtown office buildings.
Briefly: The owner of a SOMA cannabis dispensary was shot outside his store yesterday evening; after a standoff, SFPD officers shot and killed the suspected gunman. We’re following this story and will update here.
More soon,
Sara
