Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

Vendors are still out there selling on Mission Street, but the city is extending the ban on sidewalk sales anyway. And it’s closing the indoor marketplace it set up for vendors, El Tiangue on 17th Street, because hardly any customers came.

If you couldn’t travel to Mexico or Montreal for the eclipse yesterday, at least there was Bernal Hill. Neighbors brought cereal-box viewers, special glasses, snacks, and a telescope to share.

That’s the kind of community Monk’s Kettle, the beer bar on Albion and 16th St., used to enjoy. But owner Christian Anderson is moving the pub to Oakland, because, he said, too many people just order delivery now instead of socializing in person.

More soon,
