Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon! Here’s the latest:

Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie has tapped Alicia John-Baptiste, head of the urban policy nonprofit SPUR, to be his chief of infrastructure, climate, and mobility. She has 16 years of experience working at SFMTA and the Planning Department.

Joe Eskenazi and H.R. Smith held a long exit interview with Aaron Peskin, who first entered City Hall in 2000 as a curious outsider. Read Peskin’s very entertaining reflections on Willie Brown, SFO’s ill-fated adventures in Honduras, capitalism, titans of industry, and Chapter 37 of San Francisco’s Administrative Code.

Supervisor Matt Dorsey wants to start arresting a quota of 100 drug users a day, and has asked City Hall to come up with a plan to create “drug jails.” See what Dorsey’s got to say about funding the idea, and what influence he hopes to have with the incoming mayor.

More soon,

Sara
