Accompanied by the rich\, mesmerizing tones of a traditional Javanese gamelan orchestra\, this performance promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of Indonesia’s artistic heritage. \nGamelan Sari Raras\nGamelan Sari Raras is a performing ensemble in the Department of Music at UC Berkeley. Founded in 1988\, it includes students and community members\, often featuring guest artists from Indonesia. Midiyanto\, a renowned gamelan musician and teacher\, has led the ensemble for many years. Ki Hanggoro Murti is a master dhalang (puppeteer) who brings the Wayang Kulit narratives to life\, while Heni Savitri is a vocalist specializing in traditional Javanese singing styles. Together\, they offer an authentic\, immersive cultural experience.

Women creators are an ongoing primary focus. E4TT has toured internationally and recorded five albums\, each medaling in the Global Music Awards. E4TT was the winner of The American Prize for Chamber Music Performance in 2021.

Brought together by Bobby McFerrin\, they have developed the ability to spontaneously create music and soundscapes to bring people together through harmony and sound. They will lead Circlesongs and encourage everyone to bring a spirit of adventure\, curiosity\, trust\, and joy. Let it free your voice.\nCompany History\nIn 2021\, McFerrin asked David to bring together singers to play and improvise together. Tammi\, Bryan\, David and Destani have joined Bobby on stage\, in the studio\, creating songs in the moment\, facilitating Circle singing\, harmonizing and connecting their intuitive voices weekly for years as the band MOTION. They continue to perform and create vocal community space every Monday at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. Now MOTION alone brings you their own unique brand of improvisation and joy.
