SUMMARY:Dance Mission Theater: My Obsession with Hamletmachine
DESCRIPTION:Push Up Something Hidden presents\nMy Obsession with Hamletmachine \nNovember 7-16\, 2025 at Dance Mission Theater\, 3316 24th St\, SF\nFri-Sat 8pm\, Sun 6pm \nTickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1478922199109?aff=oddtdtcreator \nMy Obsession with Hamletmachine is an evening-length dance theater performance that is the result of choreographer Amy Lewis’ long fascination with Heiner Müller’s play Hamletmachine\, a work that Müller described as “the description of a petrified hope\, an effort to articulate a despair so it can be left behind.” My Obsession with Hamletmachine wears the history of recurring violence and the human experience of grief on its sleeves. The piece features appearances from a number of historic figures featured in Hamletmachine\, such as Stalin\, Walter Benjamin\, and Dostoevsky\, and others that are familiarly linked. Accompanying the figures in Hamletmachine are Lewis’ own experiences of familial loss. The stories in My Obsession are accompanied by dance\, an abstract and silent media\, and one\, Lewis claims\, with the power to reshape the past and recontextualize the present. \nTickets:\n$20 – Community\n$25 – General Admission\n$35 – Patron \nNOTAFLOF: No one is turned away for lack of funds for the Friday shows. SUMMARY:Gray Area Grand Theater: 24th Annual San Francisco Electronic Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:For our 24th annual festival\, SFEMF presents three nights of live electronic performances featuring a diverse cadre of internationally renowned and emerging creators. \nFriday\, November 7\nGET FRIDAY TICKETS https://tickets.grayarea.org/events/11d5b241-c0a4-beda-62b6-503c1ebfa7e1\nDoors: 7:30PM\nPerformance: 8PM – 10:30PM\nAll ages\nSeated Performance\nNew this year\, SFEMF is holding its annual festival November 7-9 at the Gray Area Grand Theater in San Francisco. The festival begins on Friday\, November 7\, with Leyya Mona Tawil (also known as Lime Rickey International)\, who brings her embodied\, interdisciplinary approach\, creating a musical performance that incorporates sound objects\, physical effects\, and disappearing words. The artist DULL follows\, combining instrumental mastery with live electronics\, while balancing lab-coat meticulousness with a punk attitude. Friday night concludes with Angélica Negrón performing live electronics\, incorporating her love of drag\, comedy\, and the natural world into her set. \nSaturday\, November 8\nGET SATURDAY TICKETS https://tickets.grayarea.org/events/019997c2-efb8-7557-c6ba-6e24fad99850\nDoors: 7:30PM\nPerformance: 8PM – 10:30PM\nAll ages\nSeated Performance\nSaturday\, November 8\, opens with Celia Hollander combining acoustic and digital elements\, exploring music as a natural phenomenon of dynamic systems. “Audiovisual sorceress\,” Freida Abtan follows\, weaving together acousmatic composition with more industrial and pop-influenced experimental anthems. Saturday’s lineup closes with Julien Bayle performing super.system\, a live performance uniting sound and image through real-time generative composition that is a living\, mutable work where intention meets entropy. \nSunday\, November 9\nGET SUNDAY TICKETS https://tickets.grayarea.org/events/019997c3-feb9-b923-8b5d-5d6094eee114\nDoors: 7:30PM\nPerformance: 8PM – 10:30PM\nAll ages\nSeated Performance\nThe festival wraps up Sunday\, November 9\, with S’hells Gate\, a three-piece outfit comprising members Jonathan Carr\, Matt Brownell\, and Cat Lauigan\, who fuse elements of arpeggiated electronics\, experimental poetry / processed trance vocals\, oscillating hypnotic drones\, and industrial dub rhythms. Lauren Sarah Hayes follows\, exploring instability\, vulnerability\, and unpredictability through improvisation with her hybrid analogue-digital live electronics performance system\, a form of embodied machine intelligence. With punk/metal roots\, DADABOTS close the festival using machine-learning as an extreme way to make sound and eliminate humans from music.

SUMMARY:18 Reasons: Community Dinner with Food as Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$25.00 \nAround our kitchen table\, we often talk about Food as Medicine (FAM) – one of our free community programs that is close to our heart. This powerful program combines nutrition education with cooking skills\, giving Medi-Cal members the confidence to manage their health through food. Participants receive bi-weekly grocery deliveries\, join online cooking and nutrition classes\, and build lasting communities with peers and medical professionals. This unique program is transforming lives across the Bay Area – one meal at a time! \nThis edition of Community Dinner\, produced in collaboration with our FAM team\, also celebrates Empty Bowls\, a community tradition that pairs food and art to raise awareness of food insecurity. Thanks to our partners at Clay By the Bay\, each guest will enjoy their meal in a handcrafted ceramic bowl made by a local potter and the bowl is yours to take home. We hope it serves as a reminder of the many bowls we strive to fill every day! \nAt this dinner\, you’ll experience menu items that are variations of recipes that FAM participants cook together in class. These delicious and culturally informed crowd pleasers keep us coming back for more\, all while keeping our blood sugar balanced and our hearts healthy. \nThis isn’t just a meal\, it’s an invitation to explore how good food can heal. As we gather around the table\, we’ll share the flavors and stories of our Food as Medicine program\, where recipes become tools for confidence\, creativity\, and connection. We can’t wait to see you there! \nNote: This is a seated dinner with no hands-on instruction.
