SUMMARY:111 Minna Gallery: Bay Area 5 Sketch Tuesday + Amanda Lynn Benefit
DESCRIPTION:111 Minna Gallery is excited to invite you to our latest art event Sketch Tuesday in conjunction with our Bay Area 5 show on Tuesday May 23rd from 5-9! With dozens of artists including our current exhibiting artists: Max Ehrman (Eon 75)\, Seibot\, Nicole Hayden\, Josh Thurman\, and Messy Beck. \nSketch Tuesday is part of an ongoing tradition at 111 Minna Gallery for over a decade. Originally founded by Sasha Eckes\, then carried on by Brad K Alder for 12 years until Covid created a short hiatus.. \nThe idea of Sketch Tuesday is to bring together artists of various media and career levels under one roof to create work for sale in front of a live audience. Typically – all sales go directly to the artists themselves – but in this case\, all participating artists have come together to support prolific artist and muralist Amanda Lynn who is recovering from a recent injury. \nThis event allows the public to become more familiar with individual artists and artists to become more familiar with other artists – thus opening up networks and intimate art sales at affordable prices. \nFeaturing:\nAmanda Lynn\nIan Ross\nJet Martinez\nD Young V\nFleetwood SF\nHenry Lewis\nBrett Amory\nMicah Lebrun\nDavid Choong Lee\nSteel MSK\nChad Hasegawa\nOptimist Williams\nJohn Casey\nJohn Vochatzer\nEmily Fromm\nLillian Shanahan\nJames Perry\nSeibot\nMessy Beck\nJosh Thurman\nNicole Andrijauskas\nRob “Pengoo” Casanovas\nNora Bruhn\nRalph C. He moved on to help open several restaurants\, attend the California Culinary Academy\, and study under European chefs with Michelin backgrounds. Later\, Mike served as an executive chef for catering companies\, wineries and country clubs. When his son was born\, Mike transitioned his career into teaching\, returning to the CCA where he eventually became the Executive Chef and Director of Academics. Mike also returned to school for training in his new field\, earning a Master’s Degree in Education. Having taught for Le Cordon Bleu North America in both online and brick and mortar schools\, Mike is thrilled to return to teaching in a neighborhood-based community. When he is not teaching he reaps the benefits of his backyard garden\, kept in perfect order by his Master Gardener wife.

SUMMARY:The Scarlet Sage Herb Co.: IN-PERSON: Diving Deep Into the Celtic Cross Tarot Spread with Leslie Schaffer
DESCRIPTION:$30 \nThe Celtic Cross is one of the most popular spreads out there but it can be overwhelming for newer readers. \nIt’s also not the best spread for every question/situation. \nThis in-person workshop dives deep into the Celtic Cross Spread including its origins\, what kinds of questions it works best for\, and how the card positions work together to tell a story. \nYou’ll also get insights on mini-spreads within the larger spread\, identifying patterns and themes within the spread\, and most importantly – how to adjust the spread to suit your needs. \nParticipants get the chance to pull their own celtic cross spread and are able to follow along with their own cards and gain deep insight not only into the mechanics of the spread but also in themselves with their own reading. \nADA Compliance: \nOur Wellness Space and School of Traditional Healing Arts is located below Scarlet Sage\, and is not ADA compliant; you will need to walk down 15 stairs to access the classroom and the Wellness Space. Please let us know if you need help walking into the space. We apologize for the inconvenience.

SUMMARY:18 Reasons: Tasting Seminar: French Cheese & Wine Pairings - In Person
DESCRIPTION:Price:\n$90.00\nMember Price:\n$80.00 \nA 90-minute tasting seminar\, served with crackers to cleanse the palate. We highly recommend eating a heavy snack or meal before arriving. This class is limited to 24 students over age 21. Review our registration and cancellation policies here. Masks are welcome. \nWith good reason\, French cheese and wine is celebrated as some of the world’s best. They invented triple-cremes and sparkling wine that begs for reasons to celebrate\, after all. But sometimes the region’s offerings can seem a little tricky. In this class\, cheese and wine expert Kirstin Jackson will break down France’s complicated wine labels and specific cheese regions to teach you how to harmoniously enjoy the two together\, à la Française. You’ll learn that the country’s pairings are all about tradition\, regional combinations\, and that once you have the basics down\, pairing is actually quite easy. By the end of the class\, you’ll have the tools to pair at home\, and perhaps more important\, after 4 wines\, and 7 cheeses\, you’ll also be very happy. \nBottles of wines sampled in class will be available for purchase\, so bring a credit card and a bag to take home your favorites. \nThis menu contains the following common allergens: Tree Nuts\, Dairy\, Wheat. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions that concern your ability to participate\, please e-mail info@18reasons.org before purchasing a ticket. \nLet’s Cook Together! \nKirstin Jackson\, author of It’s Not You\, it’s Brie: Unwrapping America’s Unique Culture of Cheese\, is a cheesemaking teacher\, wine and cheese educator\, and writer. She loves teaching people how to make ricotta and creamy burrata pillows as much as she adores pairing her new favorite local cheese with wine. She blames her parents who took her on trips to the California dairy country at a very young age for feeding her current obsession. Kirstin’s specialties include wine and cheese tasting seminars and cheesemaking classes.

SUMMARY:The Chapel: Frankie Rose\, SRSQ\, Houses of Heaven\, DJ Omar Perez (popscene)
DESCRIPTION:$20 advance and $25 day of show \nFor information on our current COVID policy\, please click here. \nMake a night of it and have dinner and drinks at Curio before the show! Reservations are available HERE. \nLove As Projection is the new album by Frankie Rose\, her fifth studio LP and her first since 2017’s Cage Tropical. Frankie Rose has forged an enviable musical legacy\, from playing with bands like Crystal Stilts and The Vivian Girls but on Love As Projection she takes a bold step into electronic pop production. A sumptuous recorded statement\, it dances in ecstasy and broods on the tumult of the western world’s decay in equal proportion. At the heart of the album is glowing\, confident songwriting\, resplendent in hooks and choruses but still touched with an optimism undimmed. \nAfter spending nearly two decades establishing herself across New York and Los Angeles independent music circles\, Rose re-emerges after six years with a fresh form\, aesthetic\, and ethos. Celebrated over the years for her expansive approach to songwriting\, lush atmospherics\, and transcendent vocal melodies and harmonies\, Love As Projection is a reintroduction of her established style through the lens of contemporary electronic pop. Recorded with producer Brandt Gassman and mixed with long-term collaborator Jorge Elbrecht this is the album Frankie Rose has been building up to her entire career.
