What’s currently on\, and in\, his mind are the related subjects of fascism and depression. For over seven months last year\, he was mired in a deep depression. At the same time\, our country had begun rapidly descending into fascism. So Josh found himself in a Resistance on at least two levels: against MAGA’s depredations\, and against attacks from within his own psyche. And the struggle continues! Can he help save our democracy even as he tries to pull himself together? Will he have to perform these improvs from a psychiatrist’s couch? What Is To Be Done? is a work in (and of) progress. \nArtist Biography\nJosh Kornbluth (Playwright & Performer) has been creating and performing autobiographical monologues for over three decades. He also has written and starred in two feature  films\, directed by his brother Jacob Kornbluth: Haiku Tunnel and Love & Taxes. For two years he hosted his own interview program on KQED-TV in San Francisco\, cleverly titled The Josh Kornbluth Show. His “Citizen Brain” videos (citizenbrain.org) have been viewed by over half a million people. Josh is starring in an upcoming feature film called Morons. He has a Substack called “But Not Enough About Me” (https://joshkornbluth.substack.com/)\, which you can subscribe to for free. You can also find him at joshkornbluth.com. Josh lives in Berkeley with his wife and son.

Featuring LA’s Fierra Ex Machina\, inventors and developers of the Demon Box\, and joined by electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani\, this multimedia event melds storied mediums with cutting-edge transmedia to offer the key to the Oracle of Delphi’s origin: the powers of embodied vision. \nA synesthetic retelling of the Oracle’s visions through live-scored music\, dance\, and film\, Rite of the Demon: Summer invites a conversation with the unseen and unheard made audible and visible. Utilizing motion-reactive live projection\, audio-reactive lighting\, and handmade instruments such as the percussive Demon Harp\, Demon Viola\, and Demon Bells (made from antique artillery shells)\, this performance amplifies the timeless conversation between ear and instrument\, the aether and ourselves. Additionally\, Eternal Research shares our eternal gratitude that Suzanne Ciani will join Rite Of The Demon: Summer. An oracle in her own right for pioneering both the expressive possibilities of electronic music as well as women participating in music culture at large\, Ciani joins Rite to perform an immersive experience in her signature quadraphonic speaker array. \nFollowing performances in Los Angeles and New York City\, Rite of the Demon: Summer is the third iteration of Eternal Research’s ongoing seasonal series of intermedia events. But since his girlfriend just dumped him\, tonight’s audition at “The Nowhere to Go but Up Club\,” is his perfect chance to debut The Saddest Night of Musical Entertainment in the History of the World.  His accompanist\, Raoul\, sees this as a professional dumpster fire\, and sabotages Johnny’s plans by throwing in happy songs\, sharing mindfulness tips and changing minor keys to major ones. Like Daffy Duck being tortured by Bugs Bunny\, Johnny eventually loses his mind\, which might be what his audience wanted the act to be all along.  \nThe show incorporates both classic torch songs and original jazz and blues tunes by Johnny Lonely.   An early version of this show\, Johnny Lonely’s Unhappy Hour\, was first performed on “Blue Mondays\,” at the Paradise Lounge\, in San Francisco\, in 1987.  Using a mixture of original songs in the vein of jazz standards with sad pop song covers\, Johnny has underwhelmed crowds at Dear San Francisco\, The 4Star\, Bird and Beckett\, Playground\, The Plush Room\, The Cowell Theatre\, The Rite Spot\, Noe Valley Ministry\, PS NBC\, Joe’s Pub\, (NYC) A revised version\, also directed by Cliff Mayotte\, premiered at The Marsh\, then toured to Australia\, was a Fringe finalist at the 1996 Adelaide Fringe Festival and received 5 star reviews at The Melbourne Comedy Festival.  Other Lonely venues include Club Deluxe\, DNA Lounge\, The Melkweg (ND)\, Catzahr (Paris.) \nArtist Biographies\nBrian Lohmann is a singer-songwriter\, actor-improviser with BATS Improv. “Johnny Lonely\,” grew out of his work with the seminal 80’s SF comedy troupe\, Faultline. He recorded and toured with John Wesley Harding and was a part of the SF vocal jazz sextet\, Acapella Gold. His songs were featured in the indie film\, Thanks\,with Rita Rudner and Edi Patterson. He hosted LIFEGAME for 8 episodes on TNN and was a recurring guest on the talk show\, Ask Rita\, with Rita Rudner.  His solo show\, Johnny Lonely’s Unhappy Hour\, premiered at The Marsh\, then toured to Seattle and Australia. Marsh audiences may also remember him from Pulp Playhouse\, the improv-scripted hybrid he created\, and Seasonal Help!\, his multi-character Christmas show\, at the Bayfront Theater. Some of us are accepted fully\, some of us discarded by families\, thrown out of our homes\, churches\, etc. Some are welcomed with open arms. \nBut for sure Coming Out is an act of courage that transforms one’s life and the lives of those we love. \nCome hear some stories. DESCRIPTION:In June 2026\, the Woodchopper’s Ball is offering  monthly class series in LINDY HOP and BALBOA.  All June 2026 monthly class series run on Tuesdays for 5 weeks: June 2\, 9\, 16\, 23\, and 30. \nCheck the class descriptions and schedule below to decide which class series to take.  By registering in advance (by Sunday\, May 31\, 11:59pm)\, you guarantee yourself a spot in class and pay only $105/person (Beginning Lindy Hop\, $90/person) for the full monthly class series\, saving $25 (Beginning Lindy Hop\, save $20) ! \nYou can also register for any of the full monthly class series (space permitting) at the door on the first day of class\, but you’ll need to pay the full price\, $110/person. \nEither way\, enrollment includes admission to the live music Dance Parties immediately following each week’s classes for the whole month!
