SUMMARY:Public Works: Rebekah + AIROD presented by PW and Dirty Not Sorry
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 9th\, 9:30pm – 2am \nMain Room / 21+ / Limited Capacity \nWant free entry? Check out the PW Union where members get event access\, drinks\, skip the line\, and more: www.publicsf.com/membership \nCurious about more ticket options\, deals\, and ways to party? Check out our website at www.publicsf.com \nBirmingham-raised\, Berlin-based techno mainstay Rebekah has been behind the decks since the late ’90s. Her sound hits hard — industrial weight\, distorted bass\, relentless rhythm. She runs two labels (Elements\, Decoy Records)\, took home DJ Mag’s Best Producer in 2018\, and has been pushing tempos even harder with her Go Hard Or Go Hardcore project. This is heavy\, no-frills techno for a dark room with a big system. \nLINEUP:\nRebekah\nAIROD\nLyssa Up\nMelevate \nREBEKAH BIO:\nRebekah is a British techno DJ and producer who started spinning records in Birmingham in the late ’90s after discovering the city’s Que Club. She moved to Berlin in 2012\, and her sound hardened from there — raw\, industrial techno with distorted bass and pounding rhythm. She’s released on Soma\, Perc Trax\, CLR\, and MORD\, and runs two labels of her own: Elements and Decoy Records. DJ Mag voted her Best Producer in 2018 and put her on their cover the following year. Her debut album Fear Paralysis came out on Soma in 2017. More recently she launched Go Hard Or Go Hardcore\, pushing her sets into faster\, harder territory. She also started the #ForTheMusic campaign against sexual misconduct in the electronic music industry.

SUMMARY:Manny’s: Meet and Greet with Lieutenant Governor Candidate: Mayor Janelle Kellman
DESCRIPTION:Swing by\, grab a drink\, and chat with this exciting candidate for Lieutenant Governor of California! \nAs we approach the June primary\, learn about the leading Lieutenant Governor candidates by coming to Manny’s! We are hosting a series of town halls with three candidates\, as well as this fun meet and grant with Mayor Janelle Kellman. Come by and learn who might serve as the second-highest ranking elected official in California\, holding significant power over education\, housing\, and economic policy. \nNext up is former Sausalito Mayor Janelle Kellman\, focused on reducing energy costs\, preventing wildfires\, and making community college free. \n_________________________________ \nJanelle Kellman is a nationally recognized leader at the intersection of climate risk\, policy innovation\, and community resilience\, with extensive hands-on experience in local land use planning\, permitting\, and policy. A former Planning Commissioner\, Councilmember\, and Mayor in Sausalito\, California (2020–2024)\, lawyer\, and small business owner\, she brings deep expertise in addressing the escalating threats of extreme weather and climate-driven disasters at the community level. She is known for a collaborative\, cross-sector approach to complex challenges spanning housing\, economic development\, and environmental protection\, and for her ability to govern through crises. \nHer agenda is focused and practical – three pillars that connect directly to the cost of living and public safety: \n Make the reduction of electricity bills a priority – one place to start is by taking expensive wildfire safety upgrades out of the utility profit model\, financing the work with low-cost bonds\, bidding it competitively\, and passing savings back to households.\n Prevent wildfires and reduce disaster costs – so we stop paying more and more every year for emergencies\, cleanup\, and chaos (and so insurance can stabilize).\n Make community college free – to build the workforce\, raise wages\, and expand opportunity without debt. \nJanelle brings an unusual combination of practical experience\, policy depth\, and real-world leadership. She is the only candidate in her race who has worked at the intersection of climate\, land use\, public safety\, economic development\, and affordability – all issues that are deeply important to California’s future and highly relevant to the Lieutenant Governor’s role.

SUMMARY:Gray Area Grand Theater: Breadboarding Modular Synthesizers Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this hands-on DIY Breadboarding Modular Synthesizers Workshop\, you’ll learn how to design your own modular synthesizer from scratch. Using basic electronic oscillators\, integrated circuits\, and discrete components\, you’ll explore the fundamental principles of sound synthesis. We’ll create and arrange melodic and rhythmic patterns\, building musical sounds from the ground up. \nOver the course of two days\, we will focus on two circuit typologies: square wave oscillators for synthesizing pitched instruments and sine wave oscillators for emulating percussive sounds. After learning how to build these circuits out on breadboards\, we’ll explore two ways of interacting with our circuits – one a button-based system for actuating sounds\, and another an automated circuit for sequencing them. \nBy the end of the workshop\, you will have built your own unique\, playable instrument capable of generating synth melodies and sequencing drum patterns in real-time.

SUMMARY:Manny’s: Meet the Candidates for Lieutenant Governor: State Treasurer Fiona Ma CPA
DESCRIPTION:Join us in our series of town halls with the candidates for Lieutenant Governor of California! \nAs we approach the June primary\, learn about the leading Lieutenant Governor candidates by attending Manny’s series of town halls with the top three candidates and learn who might serve as the second-highest ranking elected official in California\, holding significant power over education\, housing\, and economic policy. Moderated by Nancy Tung\, Chair of the SF Democratic Party! \nNext up is CA State Treasurer Fiona Ma CPA\, focused on making California affordable again while maintaining a commitment to freedom\, a healthy climate and quality education. \n_________________________________ \nFiona Ma is running to be California’s next Lieutenant Governor. \nShe was first elected on November 6\, 2018 with more votes than any other candidate for treasurer in the state’s history and re-elected to her second term in 2022. She is the first woman of color and the first woman Certified Public Accountant (CPA) elected to the position. \nCalifornia is the world’s fourth-largest economy and Treasurer Ma is the state’s primary banker. Her office processes more than $3 trillion in payments within a typical year and provides transparency and oversight for an investment portfolio of more than $124 billion\, approximately $34.8 billion of which are local government funds. She also is responsible for $93 billion in outstanding general obligation and lease revenue bonds of the state. Her office provides financing for schools\, roads\, housing\, recycling and waste management\, hospitals\, public facilities\, and other crucial infrastructure projects that better the lives of residents. \nOver the past 20+ years\, she has built a reputation as a problem-solving public servant\, adept at building unlikely coalitions to overcome California’s most complex problems. \nPrior to being elected Treasurer\, she was an elected member of the California Board of Equalization from 2014 – 2018 and worked to protect the rights of taxpayers while ensuring California collected its fair share of tax revenues. Her district covered 23 counties and included approximately 9.5 million people. Upon being selected Chairperson of the Board of Equalization in 2016\, she ordered three external audits of the agency and helped lead the biggest reforms for accountability and efficiency in that agency’s history. \nTreasurer Ma was a member of the State Assembly from 2006-2012\, serving as Speaker pro Tempore from 2010 to 2012. She built a reputation as a problem-solving public servant\, adept at building unlikely coalitions to overcome California’s most complex problems. Prior to serving as Speaker pro Tempore\, she was Assembly Majority Whip and worked across the aisle during a state budget crisis to pass groundbreaking legislation that protected public education and the environment while also expanding access to health care. \nAs an Assembly Member\, she authored 60 bills that were signed into law by two different governors – most were first-in-the-nation and required no taxpayer money. Her successful legislation to ban toxic chemicals in baby products\, known as phthalates\, became a model for federal legislation that was authored by U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in 2008. She chaired the Assembly Select Committee on Domestic Violence and spearheaded legislation that strengthened laws protecting victims of domestic violence\, consumers and working families; prevented the spread of Hepatitis B; increased access to quality healthcare; and strengthened equal rights for all Californians. \nHer last two pieces of legislation allowed women who suffered domestic abuse and were convicted of life without parole the ability to have their cases reheard utilizing Battered Women’s Syndrome as a defense for the first time. Women are still being released from prison today who were convicted under outdated laws that refused to acknowledge the role of pervasive domestic abuse in family violence. \nFrom 2002-2006\, she served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and championed a human rights campaign to end human trafficking in massage parlors and close prostitution rings. She led an effort to create the city’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program to empower small businesses to more easily participate in public works projects. \nTreasurer Ma has been a licensed CPA in California since 1992 and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology (NY)\, a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University (SF)\, and an MBA from Pepperdine University. \nShe is nationally recognized as a leader on public finance\, serving as Chair of the National Association of State Treasurers ABLE Committee and Member of the Legislative Committee. She was appointed to the Vatican’s Council on Inclusive Capitalism in 2020 and received Bond Buyer Magazine’s 2021 Freda Johnson Award for Trailblazing Women in Public Finance. She is an Aspen Rodel Fellow and a Hunt- Kean Leadership Fellow\, is a Member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants\, Co-Founded the San Francisco Farm Bureau\, is an Honorary Chair and Spokesperson for the San Francisco Hepatitis B Free Campaign\, and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild. She is married to Jason Hodge\, a firefighter and Oxnard Harbor Commissioner. They are the proud parents of three adopted rescues\, Monkey\, Henry and Mina. \n_________________________________ \nNancy Tung was elected as chair of the San Francisco Democratic Party in April 2024. She previously served as an elected member of the party’s local leadership for four years. She deeply understands the impact the Democratic Party has on our local elections and is guiding a new caucus of moderate Democrats in the party. \nNancy’s core issues are public safety\, improving public schools\, increasing the housing stock\, and supporting small businesses. Outside of politics\, Nancy is a career prosecutor\, having served at the state and local level for 26 years\, and a mom to two young boys.

SUMMARY:Manny’s: Meet the Candidates for Lieutenant Governor: Mayor Michael Tubbs
\nNext up is Michael Tubbs\, Former Mayor of Stockton and current Advisor on Economic Mobility and Opportunity to the Governor\, running to be California’s next lieutenant governor to build a California future that sets the example for how government can work for everyone; that leads the nation in not just talking about problems\, but solving them. \n_________________________________ \nMichael Tubbs’ journey began in South Stockton. Michael’s mother gave birth to him when she was 16 years old\, and Michael’s father has been incarcerated his entire life. Michael was raised by three forceful women – his mother\, aunt\, and grandmother. Despite the odds\, Michael’s family and faith community instilled in him the values of resilience and service. That foundation paved a path from poverty in South Stockton to the classrooms of Stanford. He ran for political office while he was still a senior at Stanford\, successfully campaigning for Councilmember for the City of Stockton District 6 at just 21 years old. \nIn 2016\, he was elected Mayor of Stockton at the age of 26. He was the city’s first African-American Mayor\, and the youngest Mayor of any major city in American history. As Mayor\, Tubbs was lauded for his leadership and innovation. He raised over $20 million dollars to create the Stockton Scholars\, a universal scholarship and mentorship program for Stockton students. Additionally\, he piloted the first mayor-led guaranteed income pilot in the country. \nUnder his leadership\, Stockton saw a 40% drop in homicides in 2018 and 2019 and led the state of California in the decline of officer involved shootings in 2019. Because of initiatives\, investments\, and work spearheaded by Michael\, Stockton’s unemployment rate was near a record low at around 5.7% in 2019 – down from around 15% in 2012. It was even named the second most fiscally healthy city in California––after Michael saved the city from literal bankruptcy. \nMichael is running to be California’s next lieutenant governor to build a California future that sets the example for how government can work for everyone; that leads the nation in not just talking about problems\, but solving them. It’s a future where education – whether vocational programs or college – is accessible to all without crippling debt. It’s a future with enough affordable housing so folks can afford to live here. And it’s a future where we leverage guaranteed basic income programs to end poverty and prevent homelessness. \nMichael Tubbs is the Special Advisor to California Governor Gavin Newsom for Economic Mobility; the Founder of Mayors for a Guaranteed Income; and the Founder of End Poverty in California (EPIC).

SUMMARY:Peacock Lounge: Fletcher Pratt\, Hen House\, Heco\, 100\,000\,000 Unread Messages
DESCRIPTION:All-ages\, $5-$15 notaflof \nFletcher Pratt\nDarkitecture of the mind’s inmost spaces\, that is Fletcher Pratt’s speciality. Boundless in abstraction yet never disjointed\, his sounds stretch like skin continuous across an impossible skeleton\, inexorable in motion\, shifting lithe and unseen. On this night\, an epidermal split leaks that bone darkness into the light\, the jugular tapped as video\, spilling in both digital and analogue synthesis.\n \nHen House\nWant in\, or do you want out? Which is the cage and which the escape? Forget the foxes\, evil arrives ever from within\, between\, behind\, below. Violence is already passe. It’s predator-free living that conjures the deepest darkness\, unhatched death denied\, an embrace that would keep and never kill. What is wanting? Behold as this hag-industrial duo measures out sound one mountain at a time\, pinning you beneath the monstrosity of intimacy\, the plangent abyss of an eternal interior. Let their “Her Thrown” album aquaint you with objectless terror\, no escape from what awaits inside that roost without rulers: the gold hold of the Peacock Lounge.\nhttps://hen-house.bandcamp.com/album/her-thrown \nHeco\nIf you think you know him\, there’s no way you do and if you think you don’t then likely you’re onto him like if ever you’ve realized the Christian war vets who just performed\, or the squirming aliens that burst from chrysalis right at your feet\, or the band that seemed to sing and move backwards til the stage was empty and no one clapped\, or whose soundcheck was actually lipsynched to a pre-recorded soundcheck\, or that one excruciating live birth at great american\, or the conlon nanacarrow records offspeed at a slew of shows up some stairs in the lower bottoms at… a certain palace\, running over himself with his own truck\, reminiscent of the legendary Mono Pause\, a master carpenter\, a jack of all attacks\, the anti-cheshirecat and leader of the Starvation Army Marching Band\, then you also know there’s no guessing what he’ll do this night\, or on any other. Just don’t miss\, and don’t get hit. \n\n100\,000\,000 Unread Messages\nThere exist unknowable things that you can’t know because they are so numerous they constitute a whole set\, the null set\, the abyss\, and yet it has your name all over it. Time to get started somewhere\, you aren’t alone in fact the number of minds who cannot know excede even the number of unknown things and when abysses overlap… well the duo of Isabelle Waldner Kalb & Conner Tomaka will take it from there.

DESCRIPTION:Mirus Gallery San Francisco presents Cyclical Snakes and Infinite Inward\, a captivating solo exhibition by Travis Gillan. This striking series of intricate paintings invite the viewer to explore consciousness through painted layers of colors with symbolism and shape that emanate a kind of transformation. Through this body of work\, Gillan has formed an emblem of visual language created to inspire unity in our presently fragmented collective psyche. Join us for the opening reception on Friday\, May 15th\, 2026\, from 6–10 PM. \nAbout the Exhibition: \nCyclical Snakes and Infinite Inward is a collection of paintings that bridge 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional planes through symbolism\, color and movement that evoke a reconciliation of the schism in the collective consciousness. Gillan’s paintings serve as a beacon of inner transformation\, in hopes of dissolving the illusion of separation while illuminating connection.. His work explores a duality that mirrors a fundamental paradigm of the human mind\, reflecting the reciprocal nature of reality\, where inner worlds shape the outer. It suggests a fluid exchange between dimensions of experience\, where higher forces may both rise from within and descend from above. \nAbout the Artist: \nTravis Gillan is a Colorado-based visual artist whose work is rich with layered symbolism\, each piece unfolding like a meditation. Gillan’s work offers deeper insights into the nature of human consciousness and glimpses of what may lie beyond.. The conceptual rigor of the work is grounded in a meticulously balanced synthesis of form and opulent color harmony. Each composition reflects a deliberate orchestration of chromatic nuance and structural precision\, revealing a thoughtful interplay between surface and depth. Through his use of flat\, saturated shapes that intersect with volumetric forms and generate a visual tension that both collapses and expands the perceived dimensional field.

SUMMARY:Garden for the Environment: Beginning Beekeeping: The Basics and Mid-Season Colony Health
DESCRIPTION:So you’re thinking of becoming a beekeeper? This workshop is an introduction to bees and beekeeping practices whether you’re starting a backyard hive or are just curious about bees. We’ll cover some basics on bees\, their progress through spring and summer\, and what to expect as colonies expand in the warmer\, longer days. There will be a class outline\, suggested reading\, and additional recommendations provided. Instructors will bring an observation hive for you to see bees in action\, and you’ll also get to see GFE’s hives from a distance. \nThe class is designed for absolute beginners so no prerequisite knowledge is required. We will have more beginning beekeeping classes this year\, and each will emphasize what is happening in a beehive throughout the seasons. Keep checking our workshop schedule for more beekeeping workshops! \nInstructors: \nOur instructors are members of the San Francisco Beekeepers Association and experienced\, longtime beekeepers. \n Philip Gerrie: Philip is past president of the San Francisco Beekeepers Association and has kept bees in SF for 25 years. He maintains and average of ten hives.\n Dan DeCuir: Dan is an avid gardener and backyard hen handler who has been keeping bees since 2006. He has been fascinated by social insects since childhood\, when he dreamed of having a farm. He currently keeps three beehives in San Francisco: on a neighbor’s rooftop (at her request)\, at the Park Street Community Garden\, and at Alemany Farm\, where he has taught beginner beekeeper classes. He is a member of the San Francisco Beekeepers Association\, and on the swarm catcher list – his first hive was a re-homed swarm. When not tending to his bees\, Dan can be found planting vegetables and weeding in his plot at the Arlington Community Garden\, feeding his backyard chickens\, or trying to catch Dungeness crabs at local beaches. \nNo walk-up registration permitted for this course.
