Why We Lost
A Reading of a New Play by Daniel Handler Explaining How Everything Went Wrong

Directed by Sheila Balter and Jim Cave

Monday, June 30, 7pm
on Z Space’s Steindler Stage

Daniel Handler’s new play Why We Lost was written to address our current state of panic and dread. He wrote most of it in a library in Dubai, because wherever he went, including a library in Dubai, Americans kept saying “This is why we lost.” He thought it might be bracing to write a play about that, and it might be inspiring—yes!—to come see something with actors and music. Maybe it will fix everything! No, let’s not go overboard. It’s just a play about a family, a neighborhood, and a dog. And the dog’s not even in the play!

This staged reading is free to the public, although we do suggest a $30 donation. Your gift will help Word for Word and Z Space to continue to bring unique opportunities such as this one, a look at a work-in-progress play by an illustrious local author, to the stage. You can make your donation here, when reserving your ticket online, or at the venue.
